Hick Duarte
With one foot in journalism and the other in fashion, Hick Duarte is the kind of talent who sees Brazilian culture as the perfect fertile ground for original work. His sensitivity — paired with deep research around youth culture and its lived experiences — makes his storytelling connect instantly. His narratives branch out like limbs of a Latin tree, reaching effortlessly into our everyday lives, always warm, always uniquely tropical.
Photographer, director, visual artist — Hick was born in Uberlândia, state of Minas Gerais. There, he began capturing the city’s nightlife in ways that were anything but obvious. His roots kept growing, stretching all the way to São Paulo, where he documents the contemporary cultural stew of the city with an increasingly refined visual language.
Like the tropics, his work brings emotion without clichés. He has already held four exhibitions and was listed in the “NEW WAVE: Creatives” at The Fashion Awards (2018 and 2019) and in Forbes Under 30. Hick has crafted standout projects for H&M, Calvin Klein, Chanel Beauty, Netflix, Heineken, Sprite, and Natura, and has been featured in outlets such as Vogue Brasil, i-D, Dazed, WMag, Hypebeast, CNN Style, GQ South Africa, L’Officiel Hommes, and The New York Times Style Magazine.
